::Rowan is Here!::

Whoohoo! Big announcement! The fall Rowan shipment is here! Ribbon Twist (with a new book), Big Wool Tuft (in a new Big stuff book), Big Wool, Rowanspun (all weights), Yorkshire Tweed (aran/chunky), Kidsilk Haze, Chunky Print and Biggy Print are all here!

20-something boxes showed up on our doorstep yesterday and we are working hard to put it all on the shelves this week. Come on in and see! You can order from us too (we haven't got it online yet but we will - you can call to order for now)! Back to work....

::Time to Sign Up!::

We still have openings for several of our classes beginning next week. If you're interested in a basic baby/child's sweater, class begins next Wednesday Aug. 24th. You'll get plenty of guidance through this one! We have a Knitting 101 class next week also that needs a few more bodies - this class takes you past basic scarf skills into following a simple mitten pattern, learning to purl, increase and decrease. You'll be ready for anything after this class! Check our schedule (unfortunately, only on paper at this time, it will probably be a week or two before we can get it up online, due to our webmistress being out of the country!) or call us immediately to sign up. Remember, you get a 10% discount on all purchases made for classes at AHYC.

::Jazzy Jacket Showcase, and more!::

As promised in our fall newsletter, we have on display now at AHYC, the "Jazzy Jacket" from Wool in the Woods. It's a gorgeous Chanel-style jacket made up of 3-4 hand-dyed yarns, knit in a simple slip stitch pattern. The fun part is picking the yarn - you get to choose the colors yourself from the great selection sent to us by Wool in the Woods. A picture will be posted shortly so you can see for yourself. We'll have this jacket in the shop for several weeks. Come by and see for yourself!

Also, we received Mountain Colors 4/8's Wool (both multi and solids) and Mohair this week. There are a few new colors in both yarns (there's a new pink one with blue and taupe highlights that is gawjus!). Lantern Moon just sent some of their new products too - the handles on the Palm Leaf Bags have been improved, and there are some new Twisted Palm round baskets with drawstring liners in turquoise, orange or pink. All of Lantern Moon's products are produced in Vietnam if you didn't know this, and the items are beautiful, unique and well-priced.

Rowan's shipment is due next week (we are told, this is always subject to warehouse whimsy!) - and a Rowan trunk show in mid-September. We still expect a fall shipment from Tahki/S.Charles/Filatura di Crosa later this month, as well as some very special needles in September... Keep posted!

::More Stuff Keeps Arriving!::

Gotta love this time of year! Just got in MORE books, including Dazzling Knits, the new Vogue On the Go Chunky Scarves and Hats, Candy Babies (way cute crochet!), and The Pattern Companion: Knitting, just to name a few. We also got new 6" Pony sock needles (0-5), and a buncha yarns from Muench - Naturwolle, Soft Kid and Savanna. Last but not least, Rowan #36 just came in! Whoohoo! That means that the Rowan shipment will be here in the next two weeks! Lots of Big Wool, Biggy Print, Rowanspun - and new yarns Big Wool Tuft and Ribbon Twist. Can't wait!

::We have bags!::

Andrea and I decided this year to get some great new bags to hold your knitting projects. And we have done! We have the Jordana Paige bags (in both red and black) - see www.jordanapaige.com, and Handbags and Ditty Bags from the Susan Todd Collection (www.susantodd.com/bags.html) - some of these are in a great vintage 50's cocktail print (not shown yet on her website). We have fun wooden-handled meaning they don't go over your shoulder) Beaudelaire bags from Woolybully (http://woolybully.com/marPetiteBau01.html), including a "Free Martha" bag ya gotta see!). We have Asian-themed silk bags, as well as Lantern Moon's selection(http://www.lanternmoon.com/silkdrawstringcontainers.asp) of lots of different bags and boxes. We also have felted needlecases from Peru (One World), and everything from needlecases to knitting bags from Ellen Originals. We'll try to get some pictures posted of those items that didn't have websites.

Oh, and we have new books too! Confessions of a Knitting Heretic (A.Modesitt), 25 Cushions to Knit (D.Abrams), Mindful Knitting (T.J.Manning), and more! The fall newsletter (with class schedule) should be posted either this week or in a month after our webmistress gets back from a fab trip to England!
