::Jo Sharp, Artful Yarns and Stuff on Sale!::
We just got a huge shipment of Jo Sharp (8ply, Silkroad Aran, Silkroad Aran Tweed), Artful Yarns (Flirtation, Mystery, Heavenly, Palace), and Reynolds (Smile, Blizzard, Rapture)! They're gorgeous! All the Artful Yarns have a free pattern on the label, plus we have the patterns for some model garments coming soon... We also got new purse kits from Judi & Co. out of some specialty corde, and embroidered project bags from Della Q Imports. Oh, and check out the Karabella Camissimo ultrasoft camelhair boucle, and the Berroco self-striping Foliage - the mitered blanket model they sent is so beautiful!
We have to make room for the new fall yarns and kits, so we have put a bunch of older stuff on the 50%-off shelves, AND put various yarns on 25% discount around the store. You'll have to come in to see what's on sale!
The newsletter is in final proofreading stages and will be heading to the printer soon. You should see it in mailboxes and online in the next 2 weeks! Wait until you see our huge list of classes, starting from late August through January! We are signing students up currently for great classes that will fill the gap until regular classes start, so call 269-8833 or stop by now to join a KnitNow! class (for raw beginners) or K101 (if you can already knit a scarf).

::AHYC Cares and TN State Fair Info::
Hope you enjoyed the Loop D Loop trunk show if you got a chance to stop by last week! New yarns and books are coming in all the time, and the newsletter is in the works.
But, in the meantime, we wanted to let you know that we are working currently on a community charity project. We are collecting yarns and toiletries for Nashville CARES, Tennessee's leading community-based AIDS organization. We have been taking donations of yarns you no longer need (no smoke or pet hair please), but we are mostly in need of knitters and crocheters who take these yarns home to make hats, scarves, lap robes (try using various doubled sport or worsted yarns, cast on 50 sts on a #15, knit 45") and other items needed by AIDS-sufferers. We will have a project pattern package available if you need them. Any size items will be accepted - they will fit somebody! Please also bring spare toiletries, such as the little soaps and shampoos from hotel stays, or lotions accumulated at the holidays that you never seem to use up. I just put a variety of makeup samples into extra Clinique bags in the bucket!
We are starting a Cancer Support Group every 3rd Friday night at AHYC from 6-8pm. Bring your project (or nothing!), snacks/drinks, your stories, and your ears, hearts, and selves. You may wish to call ahead so we know how many to expect.
In other news, Tennessee's State Fair is celebrating it's 100th Anniversary this year, September 9-18. If you have never been to the State Fair, it is much more than livestock and carnival rides! Make a night of it - invite your friends for an inexpensive night out, treat yourselves to some junk food and visit the Creative Arts Building. You'll see great examples of KNITTING!, as well as jewelry, antiques, photography, quilting, sewing and many other interesting crafts. Go on a weekday night - it's not so busy then and you might see some of your friends' handiwork on display! But WAIT - if you want to display a knitted/crocheted item, you only have until August 5 to send in your entry form. You do not have to send your item until Aug 30/31 (you can skip sending it completely if you have to!), but you MUST submit an entry form. Stop by the shop - we have a fair book to look through and extra entry forms, or call 615-862-8991 for Creative Arts entries info.
