::New Stuff Again and Reminders::
Don't forget to call and sign up for the AHYC First Annual Fashion Show and Wine Tasting at the 21st Ave Sportman's Grille at 2-4pm on Sunday, Sept 10. This whole shebang is courtesy of our good friend Joanne - thanks "Chandlah"! The patio area can only hold 40 people, so make sure we know you're coming so we don't have to take turns going out there! :) Bring something you've knit or just bring yourselves (it's not a requirement to attend). We'll bring some fab stuff from our shop to show off anyway. We can't resist the showing off!
New in the shop this week: more (actually, we were down to one or two again) of the new Tilli Tomas "6-Pack" Bags...new colors of Schaefer Anne....brand new sock yarn called Soxie from Great Adirondack....more locally dyed self-striping sock yarn from Kaleng Soh...all the new books from Tahki/Stacy Charles/Filatura di Crosa...back after a long hiatus, soft washable Dale Baby Ull in beautiful baby colors (also good for fair isle knitting)...
hmmm....is that enough to whet your appetite? We're still waiting on our Koigu shipment, but that just makes it all the sweeter (and less easy to resist) when it does finally come in...Come on in now and pick some late summer/early fall projects!

::The Most Wonderful Time of the Year...::
Well, there's lots of good times, but honestly, the times we get our fall yarns in are really the best.
Yesterday, we got several huge boxes of Encore, Galway (awesome felting colors, including tweeds, heathers, and solids), and a new Plymouth yarn called Plymouth Tweed. It works up at 16 sts to 4" and (this one felts too!) would work great in a multicolor sweater. And since Charisse, Liberty, Alice, Joanne and Joelle are big time into Fair Isle knitting right now, all these yarns (as well as others previously mentioned) are great for those type of projects!
  We got our refill of Blue Sky - GORGEOUS (but aren't they all?) new colors of Alpaca Silk, plus some great new patterns, and some more Organic Cotton. And in Sock World News, we have just ordered some Soxie from Great Adirondack. If you haven't seen this yet, you'll LOVE it. The colors are incredibly rich. I'm going to make a store model of Jaywalker from Magknits, a really popular pattern from a free online knitting magazine.
Project pictures are to be posted in the next day or two, so I'll have a picture of this Berroco circular jacket that I'm making out of Crystal Palace Merino Stripes (I just have the sleeves to go). Yvonne is nearly finished with her Faith Jacket from Sally Melville's Book Three: Color.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention something about our latest Create-a-Winner Contest! As you may have known, we were holding a contest for novelty yarns - make any item, put it up for a while, let people vote, win a gift certificate to Angel Hair! Pretty easy. Except that we apparently gave out confusing info about the dates, so the contest, which was to take entries from June 1 - July 15, then allow voting from July 16 - July 30, was misunderstood to mean we took entries from June 1 - July 30. So to avoid any issues, we DID take entries until July 30. So the voting took place from Aug 1 - Aug 15. TODAY! Today, we counted votes and - guess what? - WE HAVE A WINNER, FOLKS!
We are happy to announce that 11 (10?) year old Maria is the winner of our gift certificate! I'll post pictures of the entries in here in the next few days. Congrats! Our next contest begins Sept 1. We will take entries of any sort of Baby Hat until Oct 15. We will vote from Oct 16 - Oct 30, then we will give the winner a $25 gift certificate to Angel Hair Yarn Co. We also thought it would be nice to donate these entries, if the entrants were willing. Whaddya say, guys?
Last note, the newsletter will be online this week. We'll send email to those of you who have given yours to us, and those of you on snail mail will get yours sometime after Friday, depending on how wonderful (within the week)/terrible (2-4 weeks) your local post office gets their jobs done....

::It's Raining Yarn!::
Hallelujah!
Anyway, we had quite the downpour at the shop yesterday. LOTS of stuff that we had been waiting on came in - all at once! We had boxes all over the place. So much fun!
What did we get? Cool lamps from Lantern Moon, plus some gorgeous new baskets. Loverly new kettle-dyed wool from Rio de la Plata (we'll have a trunk show of garments in late September) that Charisse was dying (get it?) over. Temptation from Ironstone - one or two will make a great shawl! Boxes of books that we have been out of - including Mason-Dixon Knitting, which we are already (after one day!) out of again. Sigh.
Let's see...what else? Oh, tons of boxes from JCA, which means Jo Sharp (new books!) Silkroad Aran and Soho Summer Cotton. JCA also means Reynolds, which means we got Whiskey (another one that Charisse, Sue and Liberty were all over), a soft Shetland in lots of colors, great for Fair Isle and other colorwork patterns. And JCA also means Artful Yarns, so we have Reality, which is a cabled yarn (like Rowan Cork), very lightweight, changes colors...it's beautiful! Now if we could just get the Koigu we've been waiting on....
One final note - our newsletter is on its way to the printers. For the first time ever, we will make it available online first, before the paper version is out, so that you can sign up for classes earlier than ever! Do we have your email address? Either sign up online (it's on the left side of the page) or email/call the shop and we'll get it added.
