::Knitting Nature Trunk Show!::
 This trunk show is at the shop now! There are beautiful designs that are both gorgeous and interesting to knit. Just ask Joanne - she has knit several designs from this book. What's a trunk show about, you ask? It's a collection of items and garments from a particular book, live and in person, waiting to be touched (although not tried on, sadly...they won't let us!) by you! It gives you a chance to show you the details in a garment that maybe weren't represented well by the book's photos.
The books have been slightly delayed, so put your name in and we'll get them to you shortly.
Also - ask about our Artyarns Cashmere 5 scarf model. We only have 2 skeins left of this gorgeous stuff (the pattern only takes one skein!), in hand-dyed black and white, the perfect accessory for any coat color. The pattern is short-row modular, and interesting to do. Yes, the weather is getting warmer, but this project won't take long and will make a great Mother's Day gift for any mother in your life. Plus the cashmere feels "like buttah"...

::Now That Spring Break is Over...::
Come on in and see us! We took advantage of the (relative) quiet and cleaned up the shop - we spent some time organizing the yarn...Did you know that we have the shop (mostly) organized by gauge? We have a couple of specialty mixed-gauge areas, like "Rowanland" and "Mohairland", but the wall to the right of the cash register is mostly worsted weight (4-5 sts/1"). The aisle down the center (where you walk to get to the back table) is sport and fingering weight. That will help narrow down your search next time you start a project! Speaking of projects, we've got some great ideas and more are coming! Looking for a great spring shawl? Try this easy lace shawl, in Salina from Lana Grossa (see the last post for a picture of the yarn) - it only takes 3 skeins and the pattern is FREE, thanks to Unicorn Books & Crafts, the distributor for Lana Grossa. I'm starting one tomorrow! We've also just received Sox Stix from Lantern Moon - great little 5" rosewood sock needles in a beautiful silk/organza mini drawstring bag! They're going fast... Lantern Moon sent other stuff too - rainbow grass lined totes, silk project bags, sweater key rings, and the cutest ladybug (with knit wings!) tape measures! RYC sent Cotton Jeans - the colors are awesome, and even though it's a bit out of season, we have the Tapestry Collection book by Rowan. Knit Simple Spring/Summer '07 is here (not many copies left), and the Knitters, Interweave Crochet, and Vogue should be out soon. We have new patterns by Dolce Knits (very cute, looks good on many figures) too. We also have the latest patterns by Tahki, Filatura di Crosa, S.Charles, including a new crochet book on the rack near the CD player. That should whet your appetite! See ya soon!

::Green Sale!::
It has been a very good week here at Angel Hair Yarn Co.! First off, we got ROWAN in! There's more to come too, as I hear some things were backordered. Regia, Gedifra and Nashua will be here in a few more weeks. The Denim is going fast, so get it while it's hot - we haven't carried it in several years, due to shipping issues from the country where it's made. There are several new baby books from Rowan and RYC, as well as a new Silk Aran book from RYC. Don't forget to check out the new Bamboo Tape and the book that goes with it - the sweaters are drapey and have cool, unusual shapes. I already saw several things I want to make (with all my free time!).
As for the SALE, come in this Saturday, March 17, and get any green yarn, or multicolored yarn that is mostly green, at a 15% discount! These sale yarns will be non-returnable, but you're going to whip up some instant St. Patty's Day fun with them as soon as you get home, aren't you? :) Of course you are! Our hours are 10am-6pm on Saturdays, so make sure to stop by.
 What else is new? Skacel sent us some beautiful Urban Silk, a slubby 80% silk/20% cotton blend with a gorgeous sheen. And Lana Grossa sent Salina, a thin ribbon that looks like panty hose with a run (ummm...it's prettier than it sounds...); Comodo, a shiny sheer ribbon with a strand of cotton down the middle; and Gala Print, a slightly sparkly cord-like structure with gorgeous color (the ball I'm looking at has teal/khaki/gold in it - yum!). You have to see these! I think they would make a nice tee shirt or a shawl done on large needles. The Gala Print would look very cool crocheted, too - maybe a spring purse?

::Springtime is Upon Us!::
Well, as soon as February ended, March kicked in with spring weather, didn't it? Let's think about whipping up a couple of springy sweaters or wraps that will work perfectly in our crazy hot/cold climate! These items just in:
- Classic Elite's Classic Silk, a cool cotton/silk/nylon blend (the nylon offsets the stretch), along with a great new leaflet showcasing their great new designs
- Needful Yarns' Kelly, a chained cotton/acrylic strand that has a very subtle color striping
- restock of Dale Baby Ull colors
- beaded and non-beaded Tilli Thomas silk (come see our easy-to-make one-skein
model!) - Southwest Trading Co.'s TOFUtsies (fantastic new multicolored sock yarn with antibacterial properties!) and A-maizing (crisp, cool yarn made from corn!). Go here for a great free sock pattern and this adorable baby sweater made from TOFUtsies!
We're hoping to see the Rowan shipment very soon now...
You might also have noticed two new employees helping a lot around the shop lately, so please say hello and get to know Joanne and Ellen!

::Three Yarns and a Baby::

Well, that would have been a cute title, if I could come up with three yarns to tell you about. But I haven't been at the shop in a few days because I was busy having a baby! :) The yarn news I do know about is that we received Happy from Scheepjeswool - it's a kind of linen blend in natural colors. Very affordable and pretty. Also - just got news that Schaefer is discontinuing the following colors of Laurel, so get 'em while you can: Queen Lili, Victoria Woodhull, Martha Graham, Shari Lewis, and Judy Garland (and there may be others). I sure hope they're replacing them with other bright fun colors!
Here are some very off-topic baby pictures and info. Alexandra Grace was born on 2/27/07 at 5:03pm, 6 lbs 10 oz, 20". She was a quick and easy baby! Zoe, her 4-yr-old big sis, loves to hold her and sing lullabies to her. Everyone is at home now and doing well. Enjoy!
