::Trunk Show Date Change and....a SALE!::
If you were interested in viewing the Knit 2 Together Trunk Show, it was moved by two weeks. We will have selected items from this great book by comedienne Tracey Ullman in the shop from June 7 - 17. Andrea and I will have just come back from the TNNA market in Columbus, OH and we'll have lots to tell you about what's hot for fall...
We're still set for spring knitting in Tennessee, though, even while we're already ordering for fall. Come see the new baby items Charisse is knitting and the shawl and fingerless gloves that I've made! Pictures to come soon....This is a great time of year to just hang out at the shop while it's quiet - you know how busy we get in the fall! Bring a cool drink, your knitting or crocheting, and sit at the table with us anytime.
Please note: we will be closed on Monday for Memorial Day. Back to business as usual on Tuesday, then Andrea and I will be off to market on Friday...
Have you read this far? Sale on Friday, June 8, 7-9pm (for APP'ers) and all day Saturday for everyone! There will be lots of great deals and lots of fun. Bring your friends, make a road trip, score some goodies!

::A Couple of Mondays....::
Just a reminder, folks - we'll be closed this Monday to conclude our inventory count (which begins...umm...today....). So no S-n-B, afraid to say...you KNOW we'd rather be doing that than counting every single ball of yarn, button and book in the shop!
Also, we'll be closed the following Monday because ...well...it's a national holiday! We will not be open on Memorial Day.
Can you believe we are already beginning to see our fall lines of yarn? Andrea and I will be going to market in a couple of weeks - we've already picked some cool new things that you will be very happy we're carrying! Whoohoo!
Oh - one more thing - we'll need to make room for new stuff, so plan on a sale in June! Coming soon. More details later... yeah, yeah, we know it would have been smarter to have a sale first, then count the inventory....

::Knitting for Good::
Put your needles together and knit for good!
Please take some time in the next week to whip up a square or two for a good cause - the families of the VA Tech victims. A local yarn shop (LYS) in the Blacksburg area is putting together squares to give to the families of the 32 victims. The squares need to be 8x8, can be knit or crocheted out of any yarn and any stitch, preferably soft. They do not specify that it has to be washable. VA Tech school colors are burnt orange, brick, black and white. The squares can be solid or any combination of these colors.
Receive a 10% discount on yarn purchased at AHYC for this project - we have a basket in the classroom containing suggested yarn in the school colors. Squares will be accepted through AHYC until Tuesday, May 21.

::Upcoming Special Events::
Do you ever read the news in our Features sidebar? It's on the right side of the website and it has just been updated....
 Just in - the "Green" issue of Knit.1 magazine, plus a wonderful new yarn called Ty-Dy from K1C2. It's a 100% cotton with an irregular striping sequence (hence, the name Ty-Dy) with an amazing 200 yds per skein! That's practically unheard of for a worsted weight cotton! We got quite a few new patterns to go with it, including a t-shirts, a shrug, a capelet, a cardigan, a bolero and a vest. One skein would make a very cute baby outfit too...
More news coming soon about a special event...
Did you know that if you received credit for yarn you returned at AHYC, or from a gift certificate, that it never expires? There are quite a few of you with oustanding credit on your account - that's FREE money towards yarn, books, kits, or whatever, people! Who couldn't use THAT at a yarn shop? You might want to check...
Mark your calendars for the upcoming Knit2Together trunk show featuring garments designed by Tracey Ullman and Mel Clark, May 24-June 8. You'll be able to see and touch actual items from the book live and in person! We'll have plenty of the book available when you decide you can't live without it - you'll see what we mean!

::Mountain Colors, Books and FO's!::
We just got in a great shipment of Mountain Colors sock yarns - Bearfoot and Weavers Wool, plus a nice selection of sock leaflets that are written for these yarns...get 'em now while there's a good selection!
Several new books came in as well, including The Natural Knitter by the late Barbara Albright, Couture Knits by Jean Moss, Lace Style by Interweave Press, 25 More Bags to Knit by Debbie Abrams, and more! There are also fresh copies of some of your favorites like Mason-Dixon Knitting and the Vogue On-The-Go series.
I forgot to get a picture of the Mountain Colors shipment when I was at the shop, but I got these pics of some of the latest Finished Objects (FO's) we have around. Here's the Argosy scarf from Knitty.com, knit in teal Skacel Classic Silk by Robin:
 And here's Anthea's version of "Sadie", in Rowan Wool/Cotton from Rowan Magazine #40. She added a bow, as the closure in the pattern wasn't very noticeable.
Next up, Sue made a gorgeous purse out of a strand of Plymouth Torrione ribbon and a Filatura shiny rayon yarn held together. Very cute and quick - Sue embellished hers with a flower!
 Sue also whipped up this cute little shawl using the Designs by Judith Scarves & Stoles pattern - the yarns are Gedifra Tiago silk and FDC Malva ribbon. We have lots of colors and combinations to choose from and the stitch is not hard to learn. Make it as wide or long as you want, depending on whether you want a stole or a scarf.
Wanna be famous? Enter online knitting mag Knitty's calendar contest if you've knit anything out of an issue of Knitty, and they'll put the picture of your knitting in their next calendar. Find details here.
