::The Spirit of Giving, and What We Got::

What we got is....drumroll please....ROWAN! Finally! We received a shipment of the most lovely colors of Cashsoft DK, Aran, and new Chunky! We now have several new colors of Big Wool. We have some Regia Bamboo and 4-Fadig (ply) Colors for you sock-lovers out there, too!

And of course, The Books. Rowan #42 is now available, as well as New Shapes, Felted Collection, a hardback Storybook containing kids knits, and some Nashua books. There are several Accessories books that have great designs in them, and the North American Designers Bags book looks fantastic. Come in soon - we've been selling straight out of the boxes! Whoohooo!

Plymouth sent a beautiful collection of their new yarn Royal Llama Silk. You have to touch this stuff to understand. It's not as hairy as alpaca, but it has the softness and drape, plus the slight tweediness and shine of silk. The colors are rich and comforting. We have a nice shawl pattern written specifically for it, but at 18 sts/4", it's an easy gauge to find patterns for. On Friday, we're expecting Misti Bulky Baby Alpaca in handpainted colors. Think Colinette, but with the softness of Misti - YUMMY! Ask for the seed stitch cardigan pattern, free with a purchase of this yarn.

Last but not least, our projects for the holidays: Each year we sponsor two Angel Tree children, kids from Head Start who are in need of your help. We have an ornament for each child, with information on the back about items they might want for Christmas, as well as their clothing/shoe sizes. This year we have a 4-yr-old girl and boy, each wearing approx. 4T, size 9-11 shoes. The boy wants anything Spiderman and the girl would like Disney princess items. If you are out shopping and see these items, consider buying a few, wrapping them and dropping them off at our shop. We bring the collection to Miss Tina upstairs (at her nail salon) and she makes sure the children receive them. We know everything is tight this year, with prices of gas, groceries and other basics going crazy, but every bit we can spare really makes it easier for these families to have a quality holiday with each other. Please bring these by Friday, Dec 21.

We are also collecting baby blankets for Nashville General Hospital. They have an ongoing urgent need of baby blankets, especially as we move toward winter, and 99% of the babies born at that facility are in need of assistance. If you have clean blankets in good shape left from your own babies, or if you are willing to buy a new blanket or two, please bring them to AHYC, and we'll make sure they are taken to the hospital. If you'd like to knit these, the 8-Hour Afghan patterns are great. They only take four balls of Encore, knit up quickly on size 13 needles and are about 2x3. Crocheters can also contribute - just make one big granny square or several small ones whipstitched together. Let's Knit (or Crochet) for Good!
