::New Knit Simple Is In...::
 The new spring Knit Simple is in, as well as more solid colors of Misti Chunky Baby Alpaca. We are hoping to see more of the Handpaint in the next few weeks.
We are now restocked in Himalaya Recycled Silk, for the many of you who have been asking for it. A classic scarf takes 2 skeins, size 10.5 needles, and a few strands of our Handcut Silk Ribbon for fringe. Cast on 18 sts, knit until you run out, and you've got a gorgeous people-magnet around your neck!
And there's more! If you haven't yet tried Shokay Yak yarn, it's baaa...acck! One skein makes the cutest baby sweater! The pattern is free (either at our shop or on the shokay.com website). Charisse just washed hers (Izzy has been wearing hers around town in this lovely cold weather we've been having), and it bloomed beautifully. Even softer than it already was! Other free patterns include several hats, baby/kids sweaters, and of course scarves. The yak down fiber is provided by a co-op recently set up in China to support Mongolian farmers gathering the fiber in a way that has been passed down for hundreds of years.

::Once again, Koigu is here!::
Whoohooo! It's our most favorite time of the year! Well, every couple of months, anyway. New Koigu in stock! I am not actually at the shop right now, so I don't have a picture, but I am going in this afternoon to take the Two Socks at One Time class from Antje Gillingham. We have filled most of the spots, but we might be able to squeeze you in, if you really wanna come....
So maybe while I'm there, I'll take a Koigu shot. We also have Berroco Jasper, Ultra Alpaca and Pure Merino, should you need a little last-minute winter inspiration. There are lots of patterns in the shop, as well as some cute free patterns on the Berroco website. Bring the patterns in and we'll hook you up with some yarn!
Oh, how could I forget? We got two big boxes of new books - well, most are new, some are refill. Kaffe Fassett Knits Again, Kristin Nicholas' new book, the updated 365 Knit Stitches Calendar, Knit Kimonos, and more....
Joanne helped create some spring scarf kits if you're looking for a little light knitting. We've kitted them up and made a sample or two (which are also available for purchase). They work up on a #17 needle - in fact, Joanne made one in one afternoon (2.5 hours to be exact!). You can't beat that for a quick gift for yourself or a friend!
Feel free to come in and hang out on Saturday - we'll make coffee, have music playing, and general fun and mayhem will ensue. We'll be available for help if you need it, too! See you soon!

::New This Week...::
A few new items to whet your whistle...
Several colors of MistiChunky Baby Alpaca came in, lots of heathers and a few multis. More on the way in just a few weeks, so they tell us!
We received some gorgeous white "pleather" knitting bags with our logo in teal. The handles and base are brown, and there's a cute little pocket inside. They don't cost much - and I love that the handles are long enough for you to put the bag comfortably on your shoulder. Speaking of logo bags, did you know that if you sign up for our frequent shopper club, the Angels of Perpetual Purchase, you'll receive a little clear plastic accessory bag with our logo on it? Just saying....
 As if it couldn't get better, we also just got in the most gorgeous shipment of AllHemp6 from Hemp for Knitting! We've been dreaming (and drooling) about this stuff since we saw it last summer at TNNA, and it is finally here. We have some kits (that come with a cute little project bag!) and great patterns, as well as amazing colors of this yarn. ! It's DK weight, machine wash and dry, and it takes color like silk - rich and shiny! Hemp is a great yarn for our climate and we think you'll love it. Enjoy and see you soon
Berroco's coming on Monday - Ultra Alpaca, Pure Merino, Jasper...
Don't forget to call and sign up for the Two Socks at One Time on Two Circs workshop this Friday afternoon, Feb 21, from 2-5pm!

::Two Socks at a Time!::
 Wanna get rid of that Second Sock Syndrome? Or just want to make sure your socks TRULY turn out the same size? Then take Antje Gillingham's "Two Sock Workshop" this Friday at Angel Hair Yarn Co.! Antje owns The Knitting Nest in East Tennessee and just wrote a fantastic book called Knitting Circles Around Socks. Here's a link with reviews of her book.
Antje will teach a 3-hr workshop this Friday, February 21, from 2-5pm, about knitting two socks at the same time on two circular needles. We recommend that you already know how to knit a basic sock, so that you know basic sock construction. She will show you the technique on a pair of baby socks on medium-weight yarn, so that you have a chance of getting them mostly or all completed during the workshop. We will have some copies of her book on hand so you can get them signed. The book signing will run from 5-6pm on Friday. If you can't make it, but want a signed book, call ahead to reserve a copy and we'll have Antje sign the book for you!
Seating is limited, so sign up today for this fun workshop! Cost is $35 for three hours of instruction, and you'll receive a 10% discount on anything you need to purchase for the class. Call now to reserve a space! See you Friday!Labels: book, circular, knit, socks

::A Windy Night and New Stuff::
Whew, what a windy night! I didn't sleep so well, but we only had some minor mishaps around our property. The area around the shop seems to have fared decently too. We're keeping those that didn't have such luck in our thoughts and prayers.
In the shop TODAY:
 The new Spring 08 Interweave and a Crystal Palace shipment, including more Puffin (that cute stuff that feels like fleece pajamas) and Bamboozle, a wonderful stretchy bamboo blend, great for hats, booties, sweaters - whatever! Check the www.straw.com website for free patterns created specifically for Bamboozle!

In the shop this past WEEK: A fresh shipment of Blue Sky Cotton - we just can't get ENOUGH of that stuff! And we've just started carrying these cute little project/sock bags, made locally by Handmade by Tara - the current batch is made from gorgeous Amy Butler fabric. There's a sweet little pocket inside, a hefty drawstring and a clip so you can attach the bag to your beltloop or your purse. They are going fast... We recently received a new bag of Tofutsies colors - 15 different new colors, to be exact.
Oh, speaking of Tofutsies, we have a few skeins of LIMITED EDITION TOFUTSIES, normally only available if you are in our Tofutsies Sock Club (we have just a few spots left in our 2008 Club signup...). Don't delay if you're interested - there is one skein of the October color and a few of the December color. These sell for a bit more than the regular colors of Tofutsies, they come with a free pattern written specifically for that colorway, and...once they're gone, they're gone. These colors will not be repeated ever. If you're not local and want one of these, we'd be happy to ship.
If you've read this far, you might want to come in on Thursday to say hi to an old friend of ours, in town this week, visiting from over the pond...
