::Teva, Project Bags and Blankets for Vandy::

Oooooh, squeal.....you have GOT to come in and feel the new River by Teva Durham/Tahki S. Charles. It's a cotton cashmere blend in the springiest yummy colors. And her book is full of great designs!

Another squeal...if you haven't seen Tara's handmade project bags, I suggest you make a beeline for AHYC. These bags are made of fabulous designer fabrics from Kaffe Fassett, Amy Butler and more. Each bag is lined with a coordinating fabric inside, plus a drawstring and a carabiner clip to attach the bag to your belt loop, purse or other clip-able hanging place. We carry a smaller size, perfect for socks, hat or scarf, and a new larger size.

And finally, a word from Charita:
I am Charita Upkins, and I am the Co-chair for the "Loews Loves Kids" event that will take place at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel, Sunday, April 13th, 2008. I am also a board member of "Friends of Vanderbilt" (the Children's Hospital) and am heading up a drive to make blankets for the children/patients at the hospital. The blankets will be included in bags made especially for the patients/children at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. Our goal is to provide 225 blankets to the hospital in order to insure that each child receives a blanket. Every blanket counts, so if you're able to make only a few, that would be GREAT!

They are still looking for at least half the number of blankets needed. If you can find it in your heart to sew or knit some soft washable blankets (cotton, fleece, etc.) of any size, we'd be happy to collect them for this event and Charita will come by to pick them up. In order to have them in time for this event, please bring your blankets by April 10. Any blankets brought after that date will be saved to donate to another charity, Our Kids.

Thanks for any blankets you can provide! Watch this space for our late spring class listing... it'll be up any day now...plenty of great new classes to choose from! The latest newsletter is available for pickup at the shop already if you stop by.

See you soon!

::A Snowy Day and a Trunk Show::

Whooohoo! Saturday is gonna be a great day for knitting! We got in a huge shipment of Plymouth yarns - including Encore, Dreambaby DK, and a great new yarn Oh My. Oh My is super soft and chenilly (fuzzy) at a gauge of 4 sts/1". If you loved Velvet Touch or Plush, you'll go crazy for Oh My!

Scarves seem to be coming back, so come in and see our selection of kits, put together especially for you by our own Joanne! Joanne has even worked up a few sample scarves - and these are for sale too if you need a quick gift. Plymouth also sent us all four colors of a nifty new sparkly/hairy/ribbon-y scarf yarn - it's called Bewitched (oooh-la-la!). We have other gifts ready-made in our Angel Wares Boutique - just look for the handpainted sign to your right when you walk in.

Don't miss the Trunk Show at Angel Hair right now! We have garments in the shop from Annie Modesitt's new book, Romantic Handknits: 26 Flirtatious Designs to Flatter Any Figure. And we're doing a special sale, just for this trunk show: buy the book and a project from it, and we'll give you a 10% discount! If you're an APP member, you'll get an additional 10% off! We'll order the books and you'll have them shortly after the show ends on March 17.

As for Saturday's weather - if you're in Knitting 102, we'll probably be cancelling that until next Saturday. Knitting's fun, but not worth risking life and limb! We plan to open as usual at 10am, but if the snowfall is REALLY heavy, you may want to call first...

See ya soon!
