::WWKIP Day::
 Hey everyone... just wanted to post a reminder about World-Wide Knit in Public Day, Saturday, June 14th. WWKIP Day is celebrated all over the world to promote knitting and getting knitters to knit together. I've organized the Nashville meet up event and it will be at Centennial Park from 11am until late into the afternoon. We'll just be knitting and hanging out and enjoying the weather (cross your fingers that it doesn't rain!). The American Artisan Festival and the Catfish Rodeo will also be going on that day. So, there's plenty of stuff to keep us entertained while we knit! We'll have a sign with balloons set up somewhere in the vicinity of the Parthenon so you can find us. Check out the official site for more information: www.wwkipday.com
Also, I've designed some t-shirts, a tote bag, and other stuff to show support for the Nashville event. Check out the items here: www.cafepress.com/elletrainknits
This will be a great opportunity to meet other Nashville knitters, show off your current project, and have a fun day at the park. Can't wait to see you all there!

::Memorial Day Hours::
Yes, folks, we are taking Memorial Day off to spend time with our families. Cooking out, walking in the park, or maybe just sitting on our tushes on the couch. Not sure yet.
But we're sorry to have missed you - hopefully we will see you on Saturday or Tuesday! Have a great holiday, y'all!
Watch for news coming soon about WWKIP Day from Laura. Also, we've started an Angel Hair Group on Ravelry - so if you're there, look us up!

::A Square of Comfort::
As I'm sure you all have heard, Sen. Ted Kennedy was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor and will probably be undergoing chemotherapy treatment. No matter your political affiliation, we can all sympathize with him and his family at this very hard time and wish him well.
A group of very generous individuals on ravelry have agreed to sew tons(!) of squares together to make a blanket(s) for him to let him know that our thoughts are with him and his family. Here are the rules: -7" x 7" square in a washable yarn (superwash wool, cotton, acrylic, etc) preferable garter stitch or stitch pattern with a garter stitch border, worsted weight yarn in blue or yellow (Massachusetts state flag, or kelly green) . Think, Berocco Pure Merino, Plymouth Encore, Blue Sky Cotton or others. You will receive a 15% discount on blue, yellow or kelly green skein (1) for the square.
There will be a designated box at the shop for your finished square. Please have all squares in by June 4, so I can mail them.
If there are any questions, feel free to ask Charisse or email me at stillcharisse@yahoo.com.

::Cozy Knitting::
 Hello Angels...this is my first blog post. How exciting. Just wanted to show a pic of the tea cozy we'll be making in the Cozy Knitting class coming up. I'm really looking forward to this class. My friend Sarah and I are planning the final details this week. If you don't know about it yet, we'll be making a knitted tea cozy AND sampling and learning about awesome fair trade teas! Sarah creates her own lovely tea blends (check her out at www.fairtradeteas.com). She'll be telling us all about brewing the perfect pot of tea and we'll be knitting a cozy to keep that pot o' tea warm!
This should be a really fun, hang-out type of class. I used a self-striping yarn on the tea cozy and a great picot edge. If you haven't learned a picot edge yet here's your chance. You will start putting picots on everything. Trust me.
Wed., June 4th from 6-8pm is the class time. Come join us and treat yourself...see you then!

::Don't forget Father's Day (June 16)::
Blogger: Angel Hair Yarn Co. - Edit Post "Father's Day Presents! (June 16)"
 There about one month until Dad's day and what a way to say you love him than to give him a hand knitted gift. I'm making my dad socks from the Knitting Pure and Simple Basic Sock pattern #216 out of navy blue Koigu with a neat striped heel and toe that was inspired by Nancy Bush's "Gentleman Socks in Railway Stitch" (at left) from Knitting Vintage Socks. Some other ideas: chunky around-the-house socks like "The Log Cabin socks"from Handknit Holidays. Also, the Multidirectional Scarf (at the top) that is a free pattern with purchase in a nice "dad" color. And you can never go wrong with a basic hat in a nice tweed like Rowan Scottish Tweed or Jo Sharp Aran Tweed. There's something about men loving tweeds. So get started, because you still have time to make something he'll really cherish.
