::Koigu and More! Whoohoo!::
You KNOW we always get excited when we get a new shipment of Koigu! And we did! We also got new colors of AllHemp6 and Brown Sheep Bulky.
 If you were not in the Tofutsies Sock Club last year, you have your chance to get some Limited Edition colorways. Several Club members released their selections to the general public and YOU can get them now! Each skein comes with a pattern written specifically for it - and these colors are not normally available outside of the Club. Get them while you can - we only have a few left...

Also in - the new Interweave Crochet Summer '08. Some beautiful stuff in there!

::WWKIP Day Success!::
World-Wide Knit in Public Day was a big success! Thanks to everyone who came out and risked getting rained-on. It was a fun day filled with lots of knitting and chatting. It's great to be able to knit together and that's what this whole day was about. The weather actually cooperated for the majority of the day and we all had a nice time at Centennial Park.
Quote of the Day was made by Mike: He was sitting outside the tent and getting a bit rained on when he said..."I'm felting, I'm felting!"
If you'd still like to order t-shirts or other swag to commemorate the day, visit: www.cafepress.com/elletrainknits
Thanks again to all the WWKIP Day knitters! xoxo, Laura

::Help Save an Important Part of our Industry!::
OK, I'm going to step out onto a limb here - those of you who know me, know that I'm not particularly politically-inclined. But the following bill could make a big change to the knitting/crocheting/crafting world and I wanted you to know about it. Many of the "anchor" organizations in our line of business - the National Needlearts Assoc., the Craft and Needlework Assoc., to name a few - have been seriously lobbying this past week to make sure this bill doesn't gain footing.
Have you heard of the Orphan Works Bill? This is a bill that could change the face of the 1976 US Copyright Act, making it virtually impossible for artists and creators (not just in knitting!) to protect their work. It also makes it difficult to gain a living from works, such as patterns, books, knit or crocheted items, etc., as the items may soon be made freely available.
It sounds like a dream to have lots of free art and patterns, but if the artists aren't going to receive any benefit whatsoever, they might not want to create any more in the future for us to enjoy. Then you won't be able to buy patterns or books at shops like ours, you'll have to learn to create everything yourself. I guess it'll be a lot like the internet - except there will be NO alternative, and no book deals for popular online artists. Well, see what you think, and act accordingly. Thanks for letting me rant a bit!
