::Knitting for Good and new stuff::

If you're looking for a good cause to support, knitting-wise...try this one:

Carol Anderson of Cottage Creations (creator of the Wonderful Wallaby and Log Cabin and Rambling Rows Afghans), in Iowa, let us know how we can all help the flood victims in her region. The residents affected will be in great need of warm items such as hats, mittens and scarves as they head into winter. If you want to contribute it would be much appreciated! Items will be distributed through either the Red Cross or another reputable agency.

Please attach a card to items with the following information:
1) Name of item
2) Size, if applicable
3) Fiber content (most items should be machine washable and dryable)
4) If desired: your name and address and any word of encouragement.

Send to: Post office address: Cottage Creations, At the Farm on Deer Creek, Carpenter, Iowa 50462
OR
UPS or Fed Ex address: Carol Anderson, 4562 Zinnia Ave., St. Ansgar, IA 50472

Are you still reading? Good for you! By Friday, we will have new bags in stock by Namaste, very nice quality bags that can be used for knitting or as a purse. They also make excellent classy needle storage bags with different inserts for different types of needles.

We also have a sample of a great shopping bag that you can knit out of just two skeins of AllHemp6 from LanaKnits/Hemp for Knitting. We just got in a few backordered colors and they are selling very fast! You'll be seeing new yarn too - all the rich colors of the rainbow are represented by Frabjous Fibers. The yarn is spun like the Himalaya Silk, but the colors are fabulous semi-solids. I'm working on a quick shawl in 3 colors done on size 17 needles! Great for early fall! Pictures to be posted as soon as I have some decent progress to show you...

Oh, almost forgot - the new KnitScene, Knit Simple, and Vogue Knitting are in stock!

::Tootsies on Tuesdays!::

Yea, Moriah finished some socks in our shop on a Tuesday! Why is this important, you ask? Didn't you read the Late Summer newsletter, folks? Bring your unfinished socks to work on - and we know quite a few of you have these - in the shop, and if you finish your socks while you're there (only on Tuesdays, mind you!), we'll give you a 15% coupon to use on your next purchase in the shop!

How cool is that?

Hey, while you're reading the newsletter, check out the class selection - we've got some good ones with a few spaces left. Haven't you wanted to make a Clapotis, but wanted some company while you did so? Well, now you can! Or how about trying the Magic Loop socks - learn how to make socks on one 40" long circular needle? Avoid those crazy DPNs! Laura is teaching a Modern Granny Square - you'll have to go by the shop to check out her sample, at least, until she posts a picture on the blog...

::new project bags::

We have new project bags from Designs by Tara! She's used new fun fabrics and linings on these great hand-made knitting bags. There are 2 sizes: a small bag great for socks or hats and a large bag good for a variety of projects. Each drawstring bag has an inside pocket and a clip to hook onto your purse, beltloop, etc. Come check out the designs and get yours before they sell out because they always go quickly!

::Closed Friday, Open Saturday::

In case you were wondering (or googling) our shop's hours for the July 4th weekend, we will be closed on Friday to enjoy time with our families and friends. We will be open normal hours, 10am-6pm on Saturday, July 5th, so if you're visiting, need help, or just want some knitting company in an air-conditioned-type facility, come on by!

Maybe we can all grab burgers at Five Guys (or Whole Foods if you're not a meat-eater) and celebrate together! Who's bringing the side dishes and brownies? Hmmm....brownies aren't a bad idea....

Enjoy the holiday everyone!

::New shop models::

Hi all...just posting a couple of new shop models that I finished recently. The first is a tank by Karabella. It's nice and soft and lightweight...I used Rowan Bamboo Tape held together with Jo Sharp Soho DK Cotton. It was a really quick knit (on size 17 needles!) and fits great due to being on the bias.

The second model is Meida's Sock from Interweave Press' "Favorite Socks" book. I used Rowan Wool Cotton and we have quite a few other yarns that would work well. If you haven't checked out this book, please do! It's a great sock book. Socks are great warm weather projects too because they're nice and small. Good for summer travel!
