Interchanging Yarn
Calculations
Yarns of similar texture and weight can usually be interchanged without problems.
The following calculations or formulas should help you to be sure that you buy enough of the yarn that you would like to complete your project.
# Balls x yards per Ball of suggested yarn
The number of balls required multiplied by the yards per ball will give you the total number of yards (or meters) needed.
# Of Balls of Substituted Yarn
The total number of yards (meters) needed divided by the number of yards (meters) in one ball of substituted yarn will give you the number of balls needed of the substituted yarn.
Working with the yardage is much more efficient than using weight. Balls of different
textures can have less yardage and weight the same.
